  4.                          Celtic Dieties

  6.      Here is a list of celtic dieties, I'm sure most of you have 
  7.      these but if you do not, here is a short list. 
  8.  
  9.      Nuada: The gaelic Zeus;called "he of silver hand";killed by the 
  10.      Fomor, Balor early in history of the gods.
  11.  
  12.      Camulus: Of the invincible sword; the name signifies 
  13.      "heaven";god of war and sky; akin to mars, only more savage.
  14.  
  15.      The war Goddess: Fea, the hateful; Nemon, the venomous; 
  16.      Badb. the fury; Macha, the battle goddess who collects the 
  17.      heads of her victems for her "acorn crop."
  18.  
  19.      Morrigan (Morrigu): The great goddess in her Virago aspect; 
  20.      as chief deity of battle, she likes to take the form of the 
  21.      hoodie or carrion crow; her name derives from Mor Righ Anu, 
  22.      meaning "the great queen."
  23.  
  24.      Dagda: God of earth; "good god"; he posses a living harp and 
  25.      the "undry," a cauldron, where everyone find sustenance in 
  26.      proportion to his/her merits; a formidable fighter, but a 
  27.      god of simple tastes who dresses in a brown tunic, hooded 
  28.      cape and leather boots.

  30.      Boann: The Dadga's wife; an Eve figure; The Boyne River is 
  31.      named for her; she and the Dagda have many famous children 
  32.      including Bridgit, Angus, Mider, Ogma, and Bodb the Red.

  34.      Brigit: Goddess of the hearth, fire and poetry; best loved 
  35.      of all deities; candlemas is held in her honor; she is the 
  36.      only goddess to survive into the Christian pantheon of 
  37.      saints.

  39.      Angus (Angus Mac Oc): His name means "son of the young"; A 
  40.      Gaelic Eros known for his physical beauty and golden hair; 
  41.      his kisses become birds.
  42.  
  43.      Mider: God of the underworld; his abode is Falga, the Isle 
  44.      of Man; Etain (Ogma's daughter) became his wife, but she was 
  45.      taken away by Angus.
  46.  
  47.      Ogma (Cermait): The "honey-mouthed" king of the bards and 
  48.      god of eloquence and literature; Ogham script is named for 
  49.      him; he married Etain, daughter of Diancecht.

  51.           Bodb the Red: He succeeds his father as king of the 
  52.           gods.
  53.           
  54.           Ler: The gaelic Poseidon; married to Aebh, Bodb's 
  55.           daughter, with whom he has four childrenl after she 
  56.           dies he marries Aeife, who out of jealousy turns the 
  57.           children into swans.

  59.      Manannan: Ler's son; "God of the headlands"; patron of 
  60.      sailors and merchants; his famed possessions include the 
  61.      yellow shaft, the red javelin, the boat, the wave-sweeper, a 
  62.      horse called Splendid Mane, and three swords named retaliator, 
  63.      great fury, and little fury; he has the gift of in 
  64.      exhaustable life.

  66.      Goibniu: The forger of weapons; the Gaelic Hephaestus; he 
  67.      posesses a potion that enables those who drink it to become 
  68.      invisable; he also is called the "devine architect."
  69.  
  70.      Diancecht: God of medicine; he once saved Ireland; married 
  71.      to Morrigan; among their children are Etan, who marries 
  72.      Ogma, and Cian, who marries Ethniu, daughter of Balor, the 
  73.      Fomor.
  74.  
  75.      Lugh: Son of Cian and Ethniu called the "long-handed" or 
  76.      "far-shooter"; Sun god par excellence; he possesses a magic 
  77.      spear and magic hound; The Milky Way is called "Lugh's 
  78.      Chain"; he is the "master of all art," an accomplished 
  79.      carpenter, smith, warrior, harpist, poet, physician, cup-
  80.      bearer, and bronze-worker.
  81.  
  82.           The opponents of Tuatha de Dannan are the children of 
  83.           Domnu, which signifies "under-sea."  Offsptring of 
  84.           "Chaos and Old Night" they are, for the most part 
  85.           grotesque creatures, often with physical deformities.  
  86.           These gods of death and darkness are listed below.

  88.      Balor: Although he was born with two good eyes, one was 
  89.      ruined in an accident; the eye is so hideous that he only 
  90.      opens it in battle so that its venom will slay whoever is 
  91.      unlucky enough to catch glimpse of it; his daughter marries 
  92.      Cian.

  94.      Elathan: The beautiful Miltonic prince of darkness with 
  95.      golden hair.
  96.  
  97.      Bress: His name means "beautiful"; Elthan's son; married to 
  98.      Brigit of the Tuatha de Dannan and for a time her rules over 
  99.      that kingdom.
